Checking in! We just keep smashing through Stretch Goals!

We're going to need more stretch goals.
When we started this thing, I thought we might be out of our minds lucky to get near the 12K that Andrew, our lead artist said he thought we would hit. Well. We've sure smashed through that goal. And we're on our way to 19K today. I'm really amazed at the enthusiasm and positivity that the Kickstarter has been met with. We're all extremely aware that we have a big responsibility ahead of us. We need to deliver the very best possible product we can for you all. And we're setting out to do just that.
Editing is well underway. We are nearly done with the first "big revision" of the book. I'm going to spend quite a while diving into revisions and edits this next week. I will also be putting the final touches on the Nazulgrath adventure and we will have some spoilers ahead for that. So you can also see how cool that will be. It's an expansion adventure that is purely optional to Righteous Vow Volume 3 as a whole. But it can add a new layer to your adventure with new foes, new magic items, and a point crawl beneath the mountain! More information on that soon!
We've really been blowing through every imaginable stretch goal that was planned for the Kickstarter. And it has been a lot of fun watching as everyone achieved the art prints, handouts, the stickers and the player map. We're nearly to the point where we have thrown in almost as much as we can without cutting into the planned budget for the book.
But....we want to do more. In the coming days I'm going to be looking into what could possibly be done to add some quality of life improvements to the hardcovers. It's possible, but we haven't set anything in stone yet. The moment we get more clarity on the possibility of adding these added improvements, we'll do a big reveal here in an update. As of right now this is a hard maybe, but if it's possible I'd really love to make it happen.
Also, I wanted to clarify a few things, just in case anyone was confused. I know I have been fairly thorough about the stretch goals. But these are all available to physical backers of the kickstarter. You will only receive physical rewards with physical pledges. That being said. Everyone who backed us in the first 48 hours will absolutely be receiving the Nazulgrath adventure in digital PDF included with their pledge. We will also put together a digital version of the player handouts so that way backers who purchase the PDF can still have those available to print out from home.
Thanks so much everybody for the support. We have been trying to keep the updates sparse so we don't spam you with too much information. Expect another update as soon as we run out of stretch goals. Other than that I'll keep things sparse so these count.
Next I want to be sure to feature the new Gary's Appendix: Issue 8 that just launched on Kickstarter! This project is cool OSR zine that is written primarily for OSE, but has plenty of old school goodness that can be easily adapted to Shadowdark RPG. I have the previous volumes and they're full of really cool monsters and articles about OSR gaming. You should totally check it out. Also you're going to want this because Jeff Jones and Zac Goins are writers and editors on the project!
(Seriously though you guys and gals. Jeff and Zac are absolutely wonderful human beings. And you should support them. No joust.)
Gary's Appendix: A periodical zine filled with articles and an expanded bestiary for the OSR, using Old School Essentials mechanics where necessary.
We Are Back!
Gary's Appendix, Issue 8 hones in on diseases, curses, and addictions. Anything and everything that might corrupt your PCs and turn them into wretches or sinister creatures of the night. This issue includes:
- 5 Expanded Creatures
- 6 Original Articles
I also wanted to be sure to send out a link to my friend Will's project once again! Sapphire Seas looks to be another high quality third party adventure for Shadowdark RPG. Will makes great stuff! And he and I like to collaborate often. So, go get some high seas adventure for your Shadowdark RPG!
Sapphire Seas for Shadowdark RPG: Level 1-10 Adventure
Explore Phoenician-inspired isles, recover long-lost treasure, fight mythic battles, and sail the seas in this level 1-10 campaign.
That's all for now. More news coming once we hit 20K. Big news.
Here's some really cool art from Andrew Beckwith for everyone who read through this whole thing. Thanks! -Bill
